Matcon excelled in the excavation and shoring of the King George Hub Phase D project, overcoming challenges posed by the Abbotsford flooding events with a strategic contingency plan for on-time and within-budget delivery.
Matcon undertook excavation and shoring for the King George Hub Phase D, involving the completion of tasks such as bulk/detail excavation of 122,000m3, installation of 34,000sf of 4-inch shotcrete shoring, 3,800sf of 8-inch underpinning, and 36,000ft of tieback anchors, along with detail backfill and slab preparation. Notably, the project faced challenges during the Abbotsford flooding events of November 2021, impacting truck routes and fill sites in the Lower Mainland.
Despite these difficulties, Matcon's team successfully executed a contingency plan, ensuring the project's timely completion within budget constraints.
