Site superintendents oversee the construction process and are responsible for overall construction activities within the established design, budget and scheduling guidelines. This can include planning and scheduling, organizing, directing and controlling activities on the construction site.

- Communicate with all team members. Ask PM about contract conditions.
- Monitor foremen and crews to ensure work is completed on budget, on schedule, and done right first time.
- Assist with booking subs as required.
- Review drawings.
- When assigned to 1-2 sites, know those drawings in detail. When supervising 3-4 sites, ensure foremen know the drawings in detail and are communicating about any upcoming challenges.
- Create work plans/direct foreman how to undertake work, review any plans from the foreman, adjust as required. - Identify in advance particular challenges that will come up and work with the project team to resolve.
- Assign crew and equipment to sites.
- Plan ahead full duration of project with PM and FM, but particular emphasis on next 1-2 months.
- Hire, dismiss, train, monitor, and mentor crews and foremen. Write up if required.
- First point of contact for FM when dealing with field/crew issues.
- Coordinate with inspectors, engineers, and clients as required.
- Stay up to date with PM on any contractual issues and/or communications/messages that have gone out to engineers/clients.
- Respond to Project Manager / Estimator requests for feedback on productions for bids, work plans, etc.
- Ensure sites are ready for progress inspections and final inspections.
